A local wetland created to compensate for the the Barcelona-El Prat Airport expansion project was the location of BEST’s GO GREEN activity. To increase the diversity of the wetland’s aquatic plants, staff planted three new species along the banks of the lake. A total of 30 water plants and 19 trees were planted. Employees also planted trees along the perimeter of the wetland to act as a buffer between it and the dense urban areas nearby. Prior to the planting activity on 16 September, BEST held an awareness campaign to educate employees on biodiversity and the role it plays in conservation.
