Buenos Aires Container Terminal

Grass, daisies, jacarandas and ceibo – a flowering tree that is Argentina’s national tree – were among the seedlings planted by BACTSSA staff at the University of Buenos Aires and around the district of Palermo near the port for its GO GREEN activity.  BACTSSA employees joined with staff from the local operations of APM Terminals, DP World and PSA for the activity. Local NGO Plantarse assisted in the choice of seedlings which were all native species and around one year old. Forty-seven employees from the terminals participated, including twenty BACTSSA staff.

BACTSSA staff took park in a “Green Run” organised by “Club de Corredores” (Runners Club) with the sponsorship of the Buenos Aires City Government and the support of the NGO “Banco de Bosques” (Forests Bank). BACTSSA staff joined the race together with staff from the local business units of APM Terminals, DP World and PSA. The Green Run had three categories: 12 kilometres, 7 kilometres and 2 kilometres, allowing families with children to participate.

BACTSSA also conducted an internal campaign to get employees and their families motivated to recycle and conserve resources on a daily basis. Activities included carpooling and bicycling as well as a recycling campaign with a local children’s hospital.
