From 17-18 September 2015, 130 NBCT staff members and external contractor workers collected 1000 batteries for recycling. Many people brought between 10 and 20 batteries each with one worker bringing in a total of 76 batteries that have been collected from family and friends. Most of the batteries were AA and AAA they also received mobile phone and other types of batteries.

The batteries were collected at NBCT’s two staff canteens, with its Volunteers Club, Youth League and General Manager’s Office coordinating the various aspects of the event.

At the end of the collection, the batteries were sent to the Beilun Yandong Sewage Plant, a government designated recycling facility to be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner. Around 10 NBCT staff members were invited to visit the facility and introduced to its various functions such as water treatment.

NBCT first organised a battery collection event three years ago.
