Shanghai Mingdong Container Terminals & Shanghai Pudong International Container Terminals

On 18 September, SMCT and SPICT held a number of environmental education workshops teaching around 60 students at Tonggang Primary School how to upcycle . The children upcycled a variety of items, learning how to reduce waste by finding value in otherwise unwanted products. They turned used plastic bottles into vases for flowers and other plants as well as seals for plastic bags; newspapers into coasters; and empty tissues boxes and toilet rolls into stationary holders. The students were also given the opportunity to brainstorm other things they could make from these items, learning it’s not hard to get involved in environmental protection. They were also given a presentation covering issues such as waste and carbon emission minimisation; air and water pollution and global warming.
